Principal’s Message

August 2019

Dear Liberty Middle School Families,

Welcome to LMS’s second year of existence! Students and staff have settled into the new school and are enjoying the abundance of sunlight and the up-to-date technology and facilities.

I am also enjoying the new facility and getting to know the LMS community. My career in education began in 1995. After graduating from Randolph-Macon Woman’s College, I was hired to teach English at Jefferson Forest High School. In 2010, I earned an M. Ed. In administration from UVA and became an assistant principal at JF. This summer I was appointed principal here at Liberty Middle School. After 24 years working for Bedford County Public Schools BCPS, I am excited to get to know new group of students—middle school students.

As we all probably remember, middle school years are not easy. In fact, they can be difficult years. Our students are moving from young children to almost young adults. Their bodies and minds are growing in so many, sometimes opposing, ways. As a community, we work with them to help to smooth the transition by providing a safe environment that engages their minds and positive guidelines and experiences that direct their social and emotional growth appropriately. My goal is to send our students up the hill to Liberty High School ready and willing to take on the challenges of high school.

Your support is important to students’ success. Please contact me if you have any questions or suggestions.
