School Nutrition Angel Fund Accounts

Over the years, the School Nutrition Program has been contacted by community organizations, individuals in the community, churches and even our own school division staff asking to make donations that could be used to help students who may not have the funds to purchase school meals. The Angel Fund Accounts were established for this purpose. Once a student reaches the charge limit of three lunch meals, school nutrition staff will use funds from the Angel Fund Account so that the student can continue to receive a regular lunch meal until the family can send in funds for their student’s account. With the school year well under way, we wanted to send a reminder to schools about the Angel Fund Accounts. Anyone wishing to make a donation to their school’s Angel Fund Account can do so by writing a check to the school which they choose to make the donation to (for example, Bedford Elementary Angel Fund Account). Once a check is received in the school cafeteria, the cafeteria manager will deposit it and the funds will be added to the Angel Fund Account. Please feel free to share this information with school staff, parents and PTA organizations. If you need further clarification about the Angel Fund Accounts or have additional questions, please contact Karen Arthur, School Nutrition Supervisor at the contact information below
